R.W. (Ron) PRIOR
President

Mr. Prior is a graduate of Centennial College, Scarborough, Ontario and University of Toronto, Faculty of Management, and possesses Diploma’s and Certificates in Human Resources Management, Criminology, Labour Relations and Business Administration. Ron is a graduate of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Academy, the Ontario Police College, Aylmer, Ontario, the Canadian Police College, Ottawa, and Ontario and has attended a number of Seminars conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy, Quantico, Virginia, U.S.A.

While serving with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service, Ron spent his career in investigation, serving a number of years in Fraud, Morality Squad, the Homicide Squad, Public Complaints Bureau, Public Affairs and Intelligence. This service placed him in a position of having to conduct major investigations and the documentation of evidence, while preparing major reports, for different levels of the judicial system in Canada.

During his latter years of service, as a Senior Officer of the Force, Ron was also tasked with V.I.P. Security and the development of Security Protocols for Major visits of Government and World Leaders and Major Events.

After completing twenty-six years in Law Enforcement, Ron retired with the rank of Detective Inspector and ventured into the world of Marketing and Financial Management in the Private Sector. This coupled with his Police service brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Hughes Intelligence team and associate office in southwestern Ontario.

As Ron resides in Southwestern Ontario, he is tasked with the Administration and operation of the Hughes Intelligence Inc. Office in Sarnia, Ontario and conducts investigations, surveillance and the Mandate for that area of service. Ron is responsible for the development of new Clients and maintaining contact with existing Insurance, Corporate and Legal Clients.

He continues to conduct investigations and maintains a “hands on” supervision of the surveillance, conducted for our Clients. He has conducted a number of International Investigations and is still actively involved in the V.I.P. Security and Security Consulting mandate for the Hughes Intelligence Firm

B.W. (Barry) BENTLEY
Partner

Mr. Bentley has recently joined the firm after retiring from the Sarnia Police Service. Barry has 25 years of Police service. He started his career working for the Metropolitan Toronto Police service for 5 years, and then continued in Policing, working 20 years for the Sarnia Police Service.

Barry has been a qualified Collision Reconstructionist for over 12 years and has successfully completed and obtained diplomas in collision reconstruction, pedestrian reconstruction, commercial vehicle reconstruction and physics. He has investigated hundreds of serious injury and fatal collisions and has trained hundreds of Police Officers throughout Canada in Collision Investigation.

While employed by the Sarnia Police Service he has conducted a numerous general investigations and is experienced in interviewing techniques, interviewing interrogation techniques, statement admissibility, major case management, and police supervision.

Barry has been qualified as an expert in court and provided evidence as a collision
reconstructionist. Barry has been assigned as an acting Sergeant in charge of the Sarnia Police Traffic Division, also as an acting Sergeant on a platoon level. Prior to his retirement he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Branch as a Detective to investigate violent crimes and sexual assaults. Barry has conducted surveillance throughout his years as a Police officer.

With Barry’s extensive background and expertise in collision investigation, interviewing techniques, case management, surveillance, court preparation and testifying, he will be conducting investigations, surveillance and case presentation, as well as overseeing and managing day to day operations within the company.

Our firm has expanded its services offered to include traffic ticket defence, small claims actions, collision analysis and reconstruction reviews and investigations.

James (Jim) HUGHES
Associate

Mr. Hughes was educated in the Province of Ontario and is a graduate of St. Michael’s College in Toronto. Jim graduated from the Metropolitan Toronto Police Academy and the Ontario Police College in Aylmer, Ontario, serving twelve years with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service, in an array of responsibilities, from regular uniform duties to specialized assignments in Mobile Surveillance, Criminal investigations and Special Events Security.

Since leaving the Police Service in 1989, Jim has worked in a number of organizations, in the Private Sector, as a Senior Investigator. These companies required his skills and expertise, attained through his Police Training and field experience in major criminal investigations, surveillance and the preparation and analysis of comprehensive detailed reports.

In 1994, Jim put together this Company, gathering investigators from varied areas of expertise that met with his high expectations and objectives, together with a Client Base he had established, who were in need of highly skilled, professional and accountable investigators. From this base, the current Company, Hughes Intelligence Inc. emerged and Jim retains the responsibility for Clients, Surveillance, Investigations and Case File analysis.

Over the past five years Jim has developed protocols, and conducted major investigations, for our Corporate Clients and Government Departments, dealing with security, strikes, loss prevention and theft. He has also conducted investigations dealing with W.S.I.B. Claims, and harassment in the workplace.

Jim maintains a “ hands on” overview of all surveillances conducted by the Company and is involved in Client Development and our corporate management short and long range planning.
